sep signs epc contract for turkey hunutlu thermal power plant project under belt and road initiative
the second belt and road forum for international cooperation was held in beijing from april 25-27, 2019. on april 25, sep and emba electricity production inc., its turkish subsidiary, cpipec and avic-intl project engineering company signed the epc general contract on the 2×660 mw turkey hunutlu thermal power plant project on the belt and road ceo conference in beijing.
gao yunlong, vice chairman of the cppcc national committee and chairman of all-china federation of industry and commerce, xiao yaqing, chairman of sasac, and gao yan, chairperson of china council for the promotion of international trade (ccpit), attended the belt and road ceo conference and delivered speeches. sep chairman wang yundan, cpipec president wang hai, avic-intl project engineering company chairman zhang yan, and emba general manager mete bulgun signed the epc contract on behalf of respective parties. spic chairman qian zhimin, chief international business officer, and sep vice president huang chen attended the signing ceremony, presided over by ccpit vice chairman chen zhou.
as an important part of the second belt and road forum for international cooperation, the belt and road ceo conference was held for the first time, which lasted one day, involving a plenary session, signing ceremony, discussions and closing ceremony, with an aim to provide a communication and exchange platform for the industrial and commercial circles in the countries and regions jointly building the belt and road and to promote practical cooperation and trade and investment. a total of around 800 participants attended the conference, including chinese and foreign government officials, related international organizations and institutions representatives, business associations representatives, and leaders of well-known chinese and foreign enterprises as well as typical smes.
the 2×660 mw turkey hunutlu thermal power plant project was jointly invested by sep, avic-intl project engineering company and turkish investors, and controlled by sep. adjoining to the mediterranean sea, the project is located in yumurtalik county, adana province in turkey. with a total investment of around 1.75 billion usd, the project has a capital ratio of 20%, and the loans are offered by cdb, icbc and boc. the project started the site excavation in july 2018, and is expected to complete construction and achieve commercial operation in 2022, with the annual power generation accounting for 4% of the total power generation in turkey. hunutlu thermal power plant project is a key project under the belt and road initiative and turkey's middle corridor plan, and is also the largest direct investment project carried out by chinese enterprise in turkey, which enabled chinese equipment, technology and capital to "band together" to go global.
sep will join hands with various parties to construct the project into a clean, efficient, reliable and beautiful world-class power plant, and create a crown jewel of the power industry around the mediterranean sea.
